The HP 7500 is arguably the best quality digital print press in the market, with tests demonstrating that it is almost impossible to tell if it's litho or digital print that is produced. The press is unlike any other type of digital printing press, the printing process it uses is lithoesque and completely unique. The HP 7500 enables us to offer you variable data print (multi-personalised mail pieces) and print on demand services
About the HP Indigo 7500
This page includes the technical information about the HP Indigo 7500. This will impress many print specialists, but we appreciate most people just want to know the main benefits, and the first section of this page focuses on the main benefits of the HP Indigo 7500 and how the HP Indigo 7500 is different from other digital printers.
The HP Indigo 7500 is a myth buster!
There are several established myths about digital print that The HP Indigo 7500 can really bust.
MYTH #1. Digital print quality can not compare to litho printing.
Official independent research has repeatedly concluded that HP Indigo Technology is by far the best match to lithographic print among existing presses. The HP IndiChrome on-press 6-colour process accurately emulates 1,125 PANTONE© Colours (98%). HP Indigo uses liquid ink which enables the digital process to rival the conventional print experience.
New levels of quality, improved ink adhesion, shorter drying times, and improved consumable life spans have been achieved. Electroink deliver sharper images and vibrant colours with the look and feel of offset printing and HP Adaptive Halftoning enhances print quality even further.
MYTH #2. Digital printing requires expensive special paper.
It’s often believed that you need special papers to print digitally. This was true in the early days, but isn’t now. Media optimisation for HP Indigo presses is becoming more of an ‘invisible’ issue as digital printing enters mainstream print production. There are more than 700 approved substrates now available.
MYTH #3. All digital printing is the same.
All digital printing technologies are capable of some level of on-demand, variable data printing. But HP Indigo stands out because unlike other digital printing methods it’s an offset process with liquid ink. Ink is transferred from the photo imaging cylinder to the offset cylinder and then to the substrate. HP Indigo printing is also carried out at lower temperatures than dry toner so jobs can be finished as soon as they leave the press.
MYTH #4. Digital printing is expensive.
In fact low run print is cheaper with digital, and even long runs can be very affordable when total project costs are considered. There are no expensive plates to produce and fast production output can be attained with the HP Indigo. There is one print engine running at 14,400 impressions per hour and the HP Indigo 7500 doesn’t slow down for thick substrates.
With variable data printing you can improve your return on investment (ROI) from print, and we are great advocates of thinking about ROI rather than cost per page. Digital printing provides opportunities that litho printing simply can not deliver when it comes to variable data printing and print on demand.
